Intro. to how GN'R came about:

After being rejected from punk bands, Axl hooked up with another Indian exile.
Izzy Stradlin, Axl Rose and Chris Weber formed the nucleus of a band called AXL.

Weber took things as they came he was not really looking for a record deal, unlike Izzy and Axl.
Who where basically shopping for a record deal.

The band name AXL soon changed its name to ROSE, before changing again to HOLLYWOOD ROSE.

The band tried to get in on other bands such as LA Guns and LONDON, but failed to ignite.

They then drafted a bassist called Steve Darrow and drummer Rob Gardner.
Weber then drifted out and Tracii Guns of LA Guns drifted in.

The two band's names combined later on in 1985.

There was a similar band called Road Crew which most of the time only consisted of a drummer and a guitarist, their drummer Steven Adler and his old school mate Slash.

Slash had auditioned for many bands including Guns N' Roses, but was rejected, as he was too bluesy.

Duff then came along drifting from band to band, and gave Road Crew a spin, but then sensing that Road Crew were a band in name only, he then moved a small step up and joined Guns N' Roses on bass.

Duff got a tour set up for the band, when guitarist Tracii Guns and drummer Rob Gardner, decided they couldn't be bothered with the hassle of playing out of town, Duff decided rather than cancel the tour, he would recruit Road Crew's core duo as replacements.

With nothing better to do Slash and Steve learned the Guns N' Roses set as best as they could in 48 hours and the tour was on..........

Road Crew were going nowhere, so it made sense for Adler and Slash to hitch up with Guns N' Roses posse.

The 'Hell Tour' had cemented friendship within the band and suddenly the chemistry was right.

So this is the basic story of how Guns N' Roses where formed.
