Slash's Snakepit Live Review:

Madison Square Garden, New York
Friday August 25

The ARENA is only half full as Slash's Snakepit open with 'Life's Sweet Drug', a Southern-boogie tune from their new album 'Ain't Life Grand'. And those en route had better hurry considering the way former GN'R guitarist is slashing at his Les Paul. The band quickens the tempo on 'Been There Lately', as Slash solos away in a baseball catcher's position and singer Rod Jackson throws his mike stand around like Axl Rose used to. Rod then reveals, why he "loves" New York: "You got the best drugs, everything's open all night and you guys are a bunch of motherfuckers." Gee, thanks.
The band shines on with, er, 'Shine', as Slash offers swampy slide work a la Zeppelin's 'When The Levee Breaks'. This sets the pace for 'Mean Bone' about "a girl who smokes all your good weed," Rod explains. Of course. During the song, Slash gets shirtless, puffs on a siggie and relinquishes more ripping leads. He then thanks the sparse crowd for coming and the band play Guns N' Roses 'Mr. Brownstone'.
Great Stuff.
