One Day After Rio With Axl:

 

 

 

GNR leader day passes drinking in the swimming pool after the long and excited Sunday show

Axl Rose was the happiness in person the following morning to Guns N' Roses's tremendous show. Happiness that yielded one night in clearing, 12 hours at the edge of the swimming pool, two tequila bottles, one of Cointreau, a lot of cachaça and watermelon juice. Axl arrived at the hotel, after the show, about 6:00 in the morning. He arose for the suite, but went down soon then, wearing bermuda shorts and black shirt. He settled in a table near the swimming pool of the hotel, from where got up only, at 2pm o'clock, for a quick going to the bathroom.

 

Axl was in a good mood, calm, receptive. So much that authorized the entrance of a group of fans in the restricted guests swimming pool. And it wasn't a fast visit. The talking lasted about five hours. He distributed autographs, but didn't want to take pictures. And if it weren't for the same hairy and tattooed look, it was difficult to believe that that was the same Axl that in the last passage in Rio threw objects for the window. The fans asked on the end of the friendship with Slash. ''We'll never play together anymorer. We fought because of the drugs. I consumed a lot, in 1991, but knew how to stop. Slash never knew'', said Axl.

 

In spite of saying that the reconciliation is impossible, he assumed the longing and laughed when reminding certain episodes with Slash. ''I don't like Rolling Stones and he always loved them. I was pissed off when, before each show, he was hearing those music and reading on the band. ''

 

The adolescents played with Axl asking on objects threw throught the windows on his last passage in Rio. The singer said that he didn't remember threwing the chair, in his first passage for Brazil, ten years ago, but recognized the "badboy"phase. ''I know that I already threw a lot of thing throught the windows, but I don't do that anymore. Nor it advances the press to be waiting to put that in the newspaper'', he said. ''I don't like the press, mainly the photographers'', ompleted. And joked when e knew about the arrival of NSync, that will be at the same hotel. ''If I to find with one of these guys, I am violent again and I beat. That is a piece of shit'', attacked.

 

Far away from the stage, cameras and reporters, Axl is speaker, entertaining, plays imitating other people's voices, tell jokes and amuses the friends. Even drinking a lot, at 2:00pm he was not alcoholized. When he left, protected by the safety, it seemed tired, but it was gentile when approached by the report of Jornal do Brasil: ''fit was an excellent show, expecialy because of you'', and gave an autograph. He left at 18:00 and finally slept.

 

Beta Lebeis got to sleep just after the show, but while Axl was leaving the swimming pool, she still tanned the emotion of the homage that was seen by hundreds of thousands of people on Sunday at dawn, when Axl thanked at the stage for her to have saved him of the deep depression. Axl's Secretary for seven year, the 45 year-old Brazilian said that she was very surprised with what happened that night. ''I didn't know. I was making the translation when suddenly, I saw that he was speaking about me and Doug (Axl's manager) pulled me to the stage. Up to now I don't believe that that happened'', said Beta, that lives in Los Angeles it's been 10 years.

 

In the stage, Axl called mother's Beta. ''I also cook, driver, and work as a kind of psychologist. Axl is my best friend and I believe that I'm also his best friend '' A dedication of 24 hours a day and support in the difficult moments. ''After the peak, Axl lived a negative moment. He was isolated, and entered in a analysis (sp?) period".

 

Beta told that Axl today is very different of that ten year back temperamental rock star , more dew, more patient. ''He says that he has this serenity today because of me. I think that, in a way, this is true, but Axl was always a very noble person. Slowly, he is growing.''
